TiN - Titanium Nitride
TiN has a dark gold appearance. Improves tool life by 2 – 7 times over uncoated tools. This coating is also wear resistance, inert and reduces friction.
Used very commonly on average drilling tools.
TiAIN - Titanium Aluminum Nitride
TiAIN has a violet bronze appearance. Increases production levels at higher feeds and speeds adding longer tool life in high heat applications. Commonly used in drilling of high strength steels, hard die steels, and high temperature alloys, where high heat and chipping is a problem.
TiCN - Titanium Carbonitride
TiCN has a blue grey appearance. Increases hardness nearly 80%. Is also an all purpose coating, providing 2 – 8 times the tool life over uncoated tools.
AITiN - Aluminum Titanium Nitride
AITiN has a black appearance. Commonly used for abrasive and high temperature applications. Extreme hardness and excellent wear resistance.
